Experience the peace and beauty of Lapland’s winter wilderness through one of the most traditional local activities: ice fishing. This guided trip takes you to a frozen lake surrounded by silent Arctic forest, where you can enjoy the stillness of nature and try your hand at fishing through the ice—just like the locals have done for generations.

Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and drive you into the quiet, snow-covered landscape. After a short walk through the forest, you’ll arrive at a remote lake hidden in the wilderness. There, your guide will help you find a suitable fishing spot and teach you how to safely drill a hole in the ice and use a traditional ice fishing rod.

As you focus on the line and wait for a bite, your guide will prepare a warming campfire nearby. Around the fire, you’ll be served hot drinks and classic Finnish campfire snacks, such as sausage and bread. This is also a great time to ask your guide about life in the Arctic and the traditions surrounding ice fishing. If you manage to catch a decent-sized fish, it can be prepared and grilled on the open fire. Smaller fish are returned safely to the lake.
