Korouoma is a 30-kilometre-long and up to 130-metre-deep canyon located 110 kilometres southeast of Rovaniemi. It offers breathtaking scenery all year round, with cliffs, rapids, and waterfalls. This natural reserve is also home to rare species and is a fantastic area for hiking and exploring the wilderness.
In winter, the waterfalls turn into magnificent ice formations, making the area famous for ice climbing and attracting visitors from all over the world.
Your guide will drive you to Korouoma Canyon for a scenic hike in the nature reserve, where you’ll have the chance to experience authentic Finnish nature and take in the stunning views of the cliffs and frozen waterfalls. As you hike through the canyon, your guide will share insights about the local environment and wildlife. If you're lucky, you might even spot tracks left by lynx, wolves, weasels, reindeer, moose, or Arctic hares.
About halfway through the hike, we will stop for a BBQ lunch by an open fire. You’ll enjoy traditional Finnish sausage with bread and drinks. A vegan option is also available upon request.
Lunchtime is a great opportunity to ask your guide questions and hear fascinating stories about life in Lapland.
The total duration of the excursion is approximately 6–7 hours, including driving, pick-ups, and the hike.
